Text Size Speedway Race Reports 4/24/10 & 5/1/10

It was a full night of racing and then some at Speedway as the evening began taking care of last week's unfinished feature races before moving into the regular scheduled show show for May 1st. Ninety Five (95) cars came to battle this week from all directions and battle they did. After eight feature events, eight different winners would emerge and the racing couldn't have been any better. Congratulations to all of the winners this week.

Starting from the 8th position it didn't take #77 Dylan Whitehead long to move up front and pull away from the field. Whitehead would not be caught and managed to grab his second feature win of the season. Zack Henery again finished a strong second as the two drivers appear to be setting up for a duel in the race for the points championship. Jimmy Millard, Danny Masters and Darren Davenport would round out the top 5.

The B-mod drivers have run some exciting races this year already and Saturday night would be no different. #45 Dustin Thulin proved to be untouchable in the B-Mod class easily winning the 15 lap fight. Nathan Schmidt would hold on for second followed by Jay Bailey, Brian Neiberger and Mike Eisenhut. Last year's track Champion, Lance Lincoln did not have a great night, exciting the race early. He would not return for the second event scheduled later in the evening taking a hit in the points race.

Josh Stevenson and Dave Samuels collided on the back stretch on the first lap and both drivers would come away with damage. To this point, Samuels was the only feature winner in the Factory Stock class and he would quickly make repairs to mount a challenge for the win as the race went back to green. He would come up short however, as Josh Henery and Steve Johnson were just too good with Henery taking the feature event win followed by Johnson. The Stevenson and Samuels show was not over as both drivers would come back to play a big part in the regular scheduled show later in the evening. Steve Herrick and Carl Boyett would claim the 4th and 5th spots respectively.

Justin Boney would have to be classified as the hard charger of the night racing from the 22nd position to finish 6th but still unable to crack into the top 5. Steven Bowers Jr was strong all night pulling away from the field every lap for a convincing win. Todd Wichman, Ryan Phillips and Darren Fuqua would come home 3rd, 4th and 5th.

Again it was the Zach Henery and Dylan Whitehead show as both drivers cleared the field to wage their battle up front. Whitehead proved to be no match for Henery who would go on to take the feature win.

In the evening's earlier B-mod feature event, Dustin Thulin was fast enough to take the win and he was just as fast in the evening's second feature event, but not fast enough. Bobby Penny took his #16 car to the front and would be challenged repeatedly. Late race cautions would tighten the field up, but Penny would not be denied and went on to take the B-mod win.

Josh Stevenson repaired his #33 from the incident earlier in the evening with the #72 of Dave Samuels and looked good from the drop of the green flag. Samuels finished 3rd in the earlier event and looked to have the track figured out charging through the field to challenge Stevenson. The 2009 Track Champion Stevenson would eventually take the checkered and his first feature win of the year with Samuels in second.

Jake Richards had things figured out for the second modified feature, claiming the top spot in a hotly contested battle. Tim Karrick and Nic Bidinger would round out the top three with some great racing throughout the entire field. Ryan Phillips would finish 4th but was disqualified in post race inspection for an illegal roof slope.
