SPOTLIGHT ON SPEED: DYLAN WHITEHEAD

Dylan Whitehead doesn't expect to stay in the Hobby Stock class forever.

В

But the 2009 track champion isn't going to make a move until everything is in place to make a successful jump.

В

"I'd love to move up,"the 19-year-old Whitehead said. "ItВ would be harder competition, but I can take it. It would be a new challenge to get me moving up to bigger and better."

В

"But I don't want to go in with crap and just mess everybody else up. I want to be ready to go and have the right car for the race."

В

Until all the pieces fall in place, Whitehead is fine with returning to Hobby Stock for a third straight season. Whitehead is off to another good start, picking up his first feature win of the year in the second night of racing.

В

"Hopefully I'll have another good season," Whitehead said."I don't know how the car's going to run all year, but hopefully we can keep going."

В

"I'll just try to keep winning and to have a second championship in a row would be nice."

В

Whitehead dominated the class a year ago, surprising even himself.

В

"I really did," he said. "I didn't think it was going to come out that well. The year before I didn't do all that great, so I was kind of surprised."

В

And even though Whitehead is now an experienced Hobby Stock driver, he said that's still room for improvement.

В

"There's still a lot to learn, about anything, just the track, setup," he said. "I don't know anything about the car. They (his crew) do that. I just get in and drive."
