Williams Runner Up at Summit ET Championship
Tom Williams advanced to the final round in the Summit Super Pro class at the NRHA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series held during the 45th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals.
The ET Championships showcase the Divisional Champions from each of NHRA’s seven divisions in a race-off for the title. Williams, of Leonardville KS, qualified for the ET Championship by claiming the Division 5 championship held at Heartland Park Topeka in September beating out over 200 competitors.
Luck was on his side as Williams broke out in the first round but advanced thanks to a breakout by David Hadyniak from Division 3 in the other lane. That luck will roll over to the second round where again a breakout by Williams was irrelevant as his opponent, Chris Krajewski from Division 1, tripped the beam before the green light.
In the final round Williams cut a 0.044 light but slowed to a 7.64 ET on a 7.52 dial and was bested by James McNeal from Division 4 who ran a 7.703 with a 7.67 dial. The margin of victory was 0.1167 seconds.В
