Eric Craver got his start in racing in the Junior Dragster ranks, but that was a long time and a lof miles per hour ago.

"I've been racing since I was eight years old,'' said Craver, who competes in Heartland Park's E.T. Bracket Racing Series.

After completing his Juniors career, and a brief break from racing, Craves is now in his third year in the Super Comp division.

"Every year's a new learning experience.'' Craver said. "The car's running better. You've just got to get used to it.''

With a win at Heartland Park and a third-place finish in a Division V event at Great Bend, it would appear that Craver is now at home in the extremely competitive, and fast, Super Comp class.

"As long as I stay at the speeds I'm going now I feel like I'm used to it, but if we keep upping the motor it's a new thrill every time,'' Craver said.

Craver said there's no comparision between the excitment he feels now compared to early in his career.

"It's a whole different story,'' he said. "A Junior Dragster never felt anything like this thing.''

For the time being, Craver is content running mostly local events while also concentrating on the Craver's family business.

"We probably would race more nationals if we had more time, but we have a family business -- Custom Sheet Metal -- so that takes up a lot of time also,'' Craver said.

And while Craver wouldn't mind getting a shot at driving something even faster -- perhaps a Top Alcohol car -- the Super Comp class is plenty to stoke his competitive fires.

"I think Super Comp is one of the toughest classes out there,'' Craver said. "There's a million cars in that class and it takes a lot of talent to get to a first-place trophy.''
