Super 8 @ Forbes Landing Saturday Showdown Week #3

Week #3 at the Super 8 @ Forbes Landing Saturday Showdown was a cool windy affair that featured repeat winners in every class but one.

The White Line CDL Training B-Modified division feature got its first repeat winner of the season as Dave Samuels came away with the checkered flag. Samuels, the winner of week #1, started the feature race on the pole and led every lap of the 15 lap race. “Everything fell into place for me, I drew the front row on my heat race and then I drew the pole for the feature.” Samuels said. Jake Richards (2), Ethan Isaacs (3), Bryan Rigsby (4), and Rusty Trimble (5) rounded out the top 5.

The Ferrellgas Stock Car division got its first new winner of the season as Steve Herrick, who started on the pole, drove away with his 1st victory of the season. Herrick, who had comfortable lead most of the night, over drove his car causing him to slide up the track allowing Brad Deery to close the gap. “It has been a while since I have been to the winners circle. My car was good, it was tight in the heat race but my guys made some changes and it worked just fine in the feature.” Herrick said. It made for an exciting finish as Herrick crossed the finish line just ahead of Deery. Terry Schmidt (3), Travis Tenpenny (4), and Leif Weyer (5) rounded out the top 5.

The Washburn Tech A- Modified Division took a little bit to get going as it took them 3 chances, but when they finally did it was Steven Bowers Jr. jumping out to an early lead until he blew out his left rear tire in turn 3. Tyler Schmidt would take the early lead off the restart, until turn 4 where Darron Fuqua made his move. Fuqua, who got better as the night went on, never relinquished the lead even after getting bogged down in lapped traffic. Schmidt (2), Jake Richards (3), Dalton Kirk (4), and Kerry Davis (5) rounded out the top 5.

The Casey’s General Stores Pure Stock division seems to be one man’s, Tyler Garst. Garst has now won all three races this season. Garst started on the front row and from the start took complete control. “My dad has this car set up great and we aren’t changing a thing.” Garst said. “Last years experience has really helped.” A couple of yellow flags bunched the pack up, but Garst would regain control each time. Darrin Christy would finish 2nd for the second straight week, Byron Glotzbach (3), Darren Davenport (4), and A.J. Christian (5) would round out the top 5.

Week #4 of the Super 8 @ Forbes Landing Saturday Showdown will be next weekend 4/20/2013. Gates open @ 5, Hot Laps @ 6:15, Racing starts @ 7. Next week will be Toshiba Business Solutions Night at the races.
