Topeka, KS – When things become routine people start to get restless. The Super 8 at Forbes Landing Saturday Night Showdown was anything but routine. For the first time since opening night, all new winners celebrated in victory lane after picking up wins.

In the Casey’s General Store Pure Feature Robert Garst became the 1st new face to get a win. Garst had been close on putting together a win in the past few weeks, but the cards weren’t in his favor. Saturday night Garst finally held the 4th ace that he would need to get the win.

Starting from outside the 3rd row to begin the feature, Garst would get to the inside of Randy Kohn and take the lead on lap 5 and from there he would check out on the field. Lap after lap Garst would hit his marks and run away from the competition. Garst is now the 7th different feature winner to get a win in 2013 in the Pure Stocks.

Kohn would battle with Tyler Garst before securing the runner-up spot, 3rd went to T. Garst, David McDonald kept his string of good runs going finishing in the 4th spot and AJ Christian came home in 5th.

The points battle in the Pure Stock division is becoming a wild race. After taking over the points lead last week from Tyler Garst, Byron Glotzbach struggled on Saturday night and now there is a tie between the two at the top of the standings!

Luke Nieman has only a couple of races under his belt in the White Line CDL Training B Mod division. After Saturday night, Nieman can now claim that he is a feature winner at Heartland Park Topeka’s Dirt Track.

More than 30 cars checked in to shoot it out in the B Mod division on Saturday night. Nieman would start on the pole position. It sounds like starting from of the field and getting a win would be easy, but when you have the type of competitors that the B Mod division has it’s down right tough!

Nieman would take to the top spot from the drop of the green flag. Lap after lap he kept his #181 at the front of the field. Behind him there were several battles going on, but none of them fazed Nieman at the front. Several yellow flags would hinder his progress in getting to the finish. Fans began to wonder if it was only just a formality as Ethan Isaacs, a 2 time feature winner in 2013 and 2012 track champion, would overhaul him on a restart and take his 3rd win.

A late race yellow would force a green, white, checkered finish for the feature. Nieman would answer the call once again as he remained the leader and would hold off Isaacs to the checkered flag becoming the 7th different feature winner in the Pure Stocks.

Isaacs would finish 2nd, Chase Austin had a strong outing finishing in the 3rd position, 4th would go to Lucas Isaacs and rounding out the top 5 was Jake Richards the current points leader.

When drivers are at an early point in their career you can start to see them getting better from week to week. This season in the Ferrellgas Stock Car class Dustin Sievers is a driver that you can see vast improvement in week after week.

Early in the season Sievers was close to getting a win, but ended up spinning out while battling for the lead. It was one of those make or break moments in career. Sievers could either continue to work hard and get better or it could have sent his season into a tailspin. As Sievers picked up his 1st win Saturday night, it’s safe to say that he used that instance as a way to make himself better.

In pulling down his first win, Sievers put together a magical run. Starting from the pole position he would dart out to the front of the field and dominate the field on the way to his 1st victory. An emotional Sievers would pick up his trophy in victory lane and spent time thanking his family and fans for all the fun he is having as a race car driver. Just like the Pure Stocks and the B Mods, the Stock Car division can boast 7 different winners on the 2013 season.

Zach Henery finished in the 2nd spot, 3rd went to Phil Snodgrass, 4th was Clint Hedge and Eric Weyer finished out the top 5 in 5th place.

This season Darron Fuqua has won 8 features on the season in the Washburn Tech Modifieds. That means only 2 other times has there been a different winner in victory lane. Jay Bailey and Dalton Kirk are in a special group as the only drivers to win features in 2013 besides Fuqua. The group will have to make some room because after Saturday night Luke Driskell decided to crash the party!

Driskell is no stranger to victory lane at HPT. Over the past couple of seasons Driskell has stopped in on occasion to pick up a win or two and go home. This season he was close to picking up a win as he finished runner-up to Fuqua. This time he was the main attraction starting from the 2nd position in the feature. Driskell stormed to the lead on lap number 1 and never looked back.

Steven Bowers Jr. would get close to Driskell during the 25 lap feature, but in the end the competition didn’t have anything for Driskell. On a night of new faces in victory lane, he would become the 4th different feature winner in the Modifieds.

Bowers drove to a 2nd place finish, the winner from opening night, Dalton Kirk, finished in 3rd, 4th went to Lucas Conley and Robert Shepard logged another top 5 finish by coming in 5th place.

The completion of the 4th Annual Steve Bowers Sr. Memorial Race kicked off the night as the makeup features for the B Mods, Stock Cars and Modifieds were run.

In the White Line CDL Training B Mods, Lance Lincoln raced his way to his 1st victory of the 2013 season, Clint Hedge stormed the competition in route to winning the Ferrellgas Stock Car makeup feature and Darron Fuqua pocketed the $1,000 top prize by winning his 8th feature in the Washburn Tech Modified division.
