SPOTLIGHT ON SPEED: Dustin Sievers

McFarland dirt track racer Dustin Sievers knows he has ground to make up in a short amount of time if he's doing to make a run at the Stock Car championship in Heartland Park Topeka's Saturday Showdown Series.
But Sievers is in the mix, which makes him feel good about the 2013 season.
"We're happy with it, I'm not complaining,'' said Sievers, who is third in points heading into Saturday's race. "I'd like to be higher, but you know what, it's been a good year.''
Sievers, currently 92 points behind Stock Car point leader Steve Herrick and 72 behind second-place Zachary Henery, made it to victory lane last month and is off to his best start in five years of racing at Heartland Park.
"All the guys in this class are fast and we finally got our stuff together this year,'' Sievers said. "We did a lot of work on the car this winter and we got it straightened out.''
Sievers, 25 years old, won't rule out a move up in class at some point in his career, but is currently happy in the Stock Car division.
"I'll probably be here for quite a little while,'' Sievers said. "If I do move up it's going to be a big change and I don't know if we can afford it. I like it here.''
Sievers' focus is on trying to win a Factory Stock track championship sometime soon.
"We might get one maybe this year, if things work out, but we're shooting for next year,'' he said.
