SPOTLIGHT ON SPEED: NIC BIDINGER

Perry's Nic Bidinger started the 2010 dirt track season at Heartland Park Topeka breaking in a brand new Modified.

В

The process didn't take long.

В

"I think once you get a win and a couple of seconds, that's good enough to be broken in," Bidinger said.

В

Bidinger said it wasn't particularly hard to get used to his new race car.

В

"It wasn't bad, it just took us a little bit of time, just to change the setup around and see exactly what we were feeling and what the car was doing," he said. "Yeah, they're all cars, but the adjustments on each car are a little bit different."

"It just took us a little while to feel it out, but we're good to go."

Bidinger's old car wasn't a bad one. In fact, it was a car that could win races, but Bidinger said the new car has been a step forward.

"You can always get better," Bidinger said. "The old car was pretty quick, but we knew there was a lot to be gained by going with the newer chassis, (with) a lot more new technology built into it."

"Really, in the long run so far, it's been easier to drive now that we've got it set up. It's actually been a lot easier to drive than the old car."

Bidinger would appear to be the top contenders to win the HPT track championship in the Modified class this season, but he said that he's going to have to go for a bunch of wins instead.

"I've got a couple of weddings I've got to go to," Bidinger said. "My sister gets married, my best friend gets married, so Saturdays are going to be a little busy this year.

"We'd like to pick up as many wins as we can here. We don't really have a goal for here because we don't know how much we're going to be able to race here."

Bidinger would eventually like to step up in class, but he knows he has to be patient.

"That's all when funding's available," he said. "We'd do it last week if we could. Whenever funding's available and somebody wants to go do it, we're in."
