Coming To The Halfway Point Of The Season & It's Anyone's Game

Coming To The Halfway Point Of The Season & It's Anyone's Game

(Topeka, KS) - Most racers will deny it with every breath in their body, some racers will say it doesn't matter and some will tell you the truth and say it's exactly what they are doing in 2011. What are we talking about? Racing for a points championship.

It happens every year. A champion is crowned in each of the 4 divisions racing at HPT.Come Speedway. Bragging rights and a nice check goes with winning a track championship. This Saturday night, June 11, the action will start to heat up a little more as the drivers that have a shot at the title will want to gain every valuable point.

This season has been more exciting than ever before. Rivalries have been started, wars have been waged and it means that the fans get to see the best racing possible.

Last week Darron Fuqua climbed back into the quest for a points championship with his 2nd straight Washburn Tech modified feature win. Fuqua isn't concerned with the points championship. He stats that he just wants to go out and win as many races as possible. If he does that, it just might bring him his 1st championship at HPT.Com Speedway.

Don't look for the rest of the Modified drivers to roll over for last week's winner. Cody Agler, Steven Bowers Jr., Josh Everhart, Kerry Davis and a host of others are also vying for the top spot. Each of those drivers will do whatever it takes to get the job done. Another plus for the fans that attend HPT.Com Speedway.

The Super 8 at Forbes Landing Factory Stocks have put on some great races this season. Steve Herrick won his 3rd race of the 2011 season last Saturday night and he is one of several drivers still alive in the championship hunt.

Herrick has maintained the points lead for most of the season. Dave Samuels has the most wins in the division so far, but as I stated earlier the, the season is far from over. Matt Field and Gerald Wahwahsuck also have a win to their credit and they are other drivers to watch in this hunt for the championship.

Zach Henery won his 6th feature at HPT.Com Speedway last week and he is poised to sprint to the championship. It's no secret that Henery is out to win a championship. He could have accomplished this goal last year, but things didn't go as planned. In 2011 he is doing everything in his power to make sure he gets to the title.

The most competitive class happens to be the White Line CDL Training B Mod division. This class has had the most feature winners (6) on the season.

Mike Higley used some fantastic driving skills last week to get around A Mod ace, John Allen, for his 2nd win of the 2011 season.

Dalton Kirk maintains the points lead again this week, but Brian Murphy is just behind him. Not only is Murphy right in the thick of things we have 6 drivers that are within 50 points of each other. The next few races could either make or break some of those title hopes that are hanging in the air.

No matter how you look at it, HPT.Com Speedway and the BriggsAuto.Com Super Saturday Showdown Series is shaping up to give the fans even more exciting racing action than they have already seen! It's a win - win situation for all race fans!

This week's races will continue with their summer start times. The spectator gates will open us at 6 p.m., hot laps are scheduled for 6:45 p.m. and the racing action goes green at 7:30 p.m.
