For The 2nd Straight Week Fuqua, Samuels, Higley & Henery All Score Wins At HPT.Com Speedway

Topeka, KS -It might have been Harry Potter Night At The Races, but it seemed more like Back To The Future to most fans in attendance. For the 2nd straight week every class winner from a week ago went back to victory lane tonight.

Darron Fuqua came into the night with the points lead in the Modified division. After following up last week with another win (number 8), the young driver out of Topeka can begin to relax a little bit, or can he?

The night got started on a sour note. In Fuqua's heat race it was deemed that he had contact with another car on the track and it relegated him to the tail of the field. He was able to fight back for a 3rd place finish, but with the inversion of 5 rows for the feature it gave him a 2nd row starting spot for the feature. That is all Fuqua would need.

"I am just driving my a$# off right now," said an excited Fuqua after the main event, "the car has been feeling really good. The motor has been running awesome and the total package is right on, right now."

Tonight was just like the last few winning nights for Fuqua. He found himself at the front of the field and checked out from there. As the checkered flag would fall on the race, Fuqua's nearest competitor was a straightaway behind him.

The win is the 8th of the season for Fuqua and it adds to his cushion in the battle for the points championship.

Ryan Phillips finished in the runner up spot, 3rd went to a hard-charging Kyle Covert, 4th was Justin Johnson and rounding out the top 5 was, an ever improving, Brian Murphy.

Zach Henery stormed his way to another victory in the Pure Stock division on Saturday night. It was his 10th of the season, but it doesn't sound like Henery thinks its that big of an accomplishment.

"10 is great. Darron (Fuqua) has got a good run with 8," said Henery, "it means a little more in the Mods than it does in the Pure Stocks. We are doing good, the car is doing good, the motor is running good.... we are just doing good right now."

The fact that this young driver from Berryton has 10 wins, still, can't be denied. Anytime that a driver can put together a double digit figure in the win column, it's an impressive stat.

Tonight it took a little while before Henery was able to get the lead wrestled away from Darren Davenport. Once in the lead Henery held off all attacks, even from upstart, Randy Kohn. The two battled on a restart, but Henery would take back the lead for good.

Kohn finished 2nd, 3rd was Darren Davenport, Dan Canady finished in the 4th spot and AJ Christian finished in the 4th spot.

The B Mod race was a good one.

Mike Higley raced his way to win number 4 on the season. It was also the 2nd consecutive win for the racer from Tecumseh.

Dylan Whitehead maintained the lead early in the feature. The rookie kept that top spot until Higley was able to reel him in and make the pass.

During the night Higley surprised a lot of people in the stands by running the high line on the track. At a time when others were running the bottom, Higley went to the top side to find his momentum.

The momentum built up by Higley was enough to get past Whitehead and then hold off all competitors to the finish.

Dustin Thulin moved up 8 spots in the feature to finish 2nd, former feature winner, Marty Grist, came home in 3rd, 4th went to Dalton Kirk and 5th was John Grist.

The Factory Stock feature event was one of attrition. It started with 13 cars and finished with 8.

Dave Samuels rolled to his 6th win of the season. Samuels picked up the win going where nobody else would on the track. High.

During the early part of the feature, most drivers were staking their claim to the bottom of the track or the middle portion. Samuels has been around long enough to put his car where ever it needs to be in order to get to the front of the pack. Tonight was one of those nights.

In the end, Samuels would even spread the lead out on his way to the win. Not only did Samuels post his 2nd win in as many weeks, he also edged a little closer to the points leader, Steve Herrick.

Herrick, didn't give up many points, as he finished 2nd on the night, 3rd was Matt Field, 4th went to Bob Troutwine and rounding out the top 5 was Terry Coder.

Next week it's race #15 in the BrigssAuto.Com Super Saturday Showdown Series at HPT.Com Speedway.
