SPOTLIGHT ON SPEED: TERRY CODER
Terry Coder has put together a solid 2011 season thus far in Heartland Park’s Super Saturday Showdown Series.
But the Factory Stock driver knows that there’s still untapped potential for the 42C.
“We’re looking forward to a real strong second half of the season,’’ said Coder, a Topekan. “We think the best is yet to come. We get better every week. Sometimes we take a step back but we think the best is yet to come.’’
Coder is a veteran racer but a newcomer as a regular at HPT.
“I’ve ran here off and on over the last 10 years and returned this year to make it my home track,’’ he said.
Coder is currently seventh in Factory Stock points, with a season-best feature finish of fifth.
“For the points race it’s consistency and making every race,’’ Coder said. “We missed a race earlier this year due to my health that cost us a lot of points.’’
Coder’s major goal for the remainder of the year is to visit victory lane at least once.
“We want to get that win this year,’’ said Coder, who picked up a win at HPT in the Capital City Clash several years ago. “It’s not always about points. A win can go a long way. They make great pictures for sponsors.’’
