Loving Couple Lends Excitement to BriggsAuto.Com Super Saturday Showdown Series Finale!
Topeka, KS ˆ All season long there has been great racing action at HPT.Com Speedway. Off the track the promotions have been just as exciting. Fans have felt like they have been part of the action all year and this weekend two fans are showing their appreciation this weekend.
This Saturday night's race has been dubbed the "Race For Hope & Faith."
You have to know a little bit more about our two special fans to see the meaning behind the title.
Byron and Sandy Glotzbach have been going to the races religiously for awhile. It was in 2008 that Sandy was diagnosed with stage 4 liver/bioduct cancer. The two worked with doctors and nurses to find a special diet, conventional medicine and faith. It worked as she beat that round.
Yes, that's right that round. Sandy's cancer had moved from her liver into her lungs, Currently she continues to battle on with her methods she used before and it seems to be working.
The Glotzbach's feel that if you never give up your faith, hope and working towards a victory, it represents the struggles a racers goes through on race night. People can fight and people can win!
To celebrate Sandy's successful battle against cancer they wanted to come up with something special. Not only were they celebrating that they are also going to be celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary coming up on Sept. 26th. Whatever they were going to do was going to have to be special and it was a shocker when they announced that they wanted to put $2,000 into this week's feature events.
The final night to the BriggsAuto.Com Super Saturday Showdown Series is going to pay $1,500 to win the Washburn Tech Modifieds, $750 to win the Super 8 @ Forbes Landing Factory Stocks, the winner in the White Line CDL Training B Mods will receive $700 and the Casey's General Store Pure Stock winner will get $225.
Last weekend it seemed as if the points battles stretched further apart. Darron Fuqua locked up the title in the Modifieds while Zach Henery did the same in the Pure Stock division.
Dave Samuels put some more distance between he and Steve Herrick in the Factory Stocks. Samuels logged his 11th win last week. In the B Mod division it seems that Dalton Kirk has won the points battle as his closest competitor will not be competing this weekend.
Other spots will be up for grabs throughout the field, but with the generous gift from the Glotzbach's, it stands to be an amazing finale. Racers are naturally competitive, but when you give them an extra incentive to work even harder, they will. Watch this Saturday night as extra cash on the line will make them do things you didn't think that they would ever do.
Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m., hot laps are scheduled for 6:15 p.m. and the racing goes green at 7:00 p.m.
Adult tickets are $10 and kids are $5.
