Danielle Jaramillo-Miller had a big weekend in the most recent E.T. Bracket Racing weekend at Heartland Park Topeka, winning the Super Comp title and advancing to the semifinals in the Super Pro class.
As far as Jaramillo-Miller was concerned, it was about time.
“It’s been a tough few years,’’ Jaramillo-Miller said. “I don’t think I’ve done well probably since ’08.’’
Jaramillo, currently tied for seventh in the Super Pro standings, said she can’t really blame her struggles on her car.
“The car’s great,’’ she said. “It’s always been consistent. My husband (Dustin Miller) builds the engines and it’s always worked well for me, knock on wood.
“It’s just that the driver and the car weren’t working well at the same time. It was all driver.’’
The driver was back on her game last time out, however, and it was a welcome sight.
“It makes it worth it (to race) because you start doubting yourself and what you’re doing and, “Why am I doing this?’ ’’ Jaramillo-Miller said. “When you have a good weekend it makes it better.’’
After finishing out the 2011 season with HPT bracket races on Saturday and Sunday, Jaramillo-Miller will turn her attention to 2012.
“I don’t know if we’re going to do a different engine program or maybe look at getting a different car,’’ Jaramillo-Miller said. “I haven’t really decided what I’m doing yet but I’ll be back next year.’’
