Super Saturday Showdown Series

If you are looking for the pulse-pounding thrill of up-close thunderous racing action, HPT.com Speedway is the place to be. Saturday nights from April through September, the Briggsauto.com Super Saturday Showdown Series will run weekly with four different classes: Modifieds, B Mods, Factory Stocks and Hobby Stocks.

The entry level class is the Hobby Stocks. They are basic stock street cars with roll cages for safety and minor performance enhancements to give them durability to last under racing conditions. Hobby Stocks are limited to 360 cubic inch engines with a two barrel carburetor and stock chassis parts. The Hobby Stock class is an economic class that provides a high level of excitement.

The next class is Factory Stock which is basically a Hobby Stock on steroids. Factory Stocks are also limited to a 360 cubic inch engine with a two barrel carburetor but that is where the similarities end. Factory Stocks are allowed high performance engine parts and chassis components like racing shocks and springs that improve their handling around the track. With their engine and suspension upgrades they put on an entertaining show.

B Mods are a purpose built race car and the fastest growing class in the Midwest because of the initial low cost investment and strict rules. Highly competitive, the B Mods are limited to a 360 cubic inch engine with a two barrel carburetor or a GM Performance crate engine with a four barrel. Many of the B Mods cars are former A Mods that have been converted to a basic three-link rear suspension. So appealing is the B Mod class that many of the former A Mod drivers are making the switch. The variety of experience and the up and coming drivers makes B Mods one of the most exciting classes to watch.

Modifieds are the featured class at Heartland Park. Modifieds are a highly complex and developed race car. The foundation of most A Mods is the 1968-72 Chevelle frame while the remainder of the components are specifically made for racing. A Mods distinguish themselves with high horsepower engines that are limited to 410 cubic inches burning alcohol. Intricate four-bar rear suspensions give Modifieds the ability to put all 600 plus horsepower to the track. The drivers of these incredible cars are the flying aces of the dirt track.

The Heartland Park Topeka dirt track is the ultimate in entertainment at a reasonable price.
