BriggsAuto.Com Speedway Ends Season With Two Consecutive Nights This Weekend!
September 26, 2012

Topeka, KS – It may have not been planned this way, but BriggsAuto.Com
Speedway is getting known for having the season end on a two day show.
It’s happened in the past and it’s going to happen again this season as
the Super Saturday Showdown Series will finish out the 2012 season with a
Double Header, Two Day Show Presented by 1 Source Real Estate, Inc. Fans
will be able to catch all the action twice this weekend at BriggsAuto.Com
Speedway with shows on Saturday, Sept. 29th and Sunday, Sept. 30th.
The Sunday show is a make-up race from a race that was stormed out earlier
in the season. It should give fans a double dose of racing fun to finish
off a great 2012 season!
Just when fans thought it couldn’t get any better, IT DOES! Sunday will be
a special day as the fans will get to see the 2012 champions crowned and
they will also get a choice to make when they are buying tickets to get
into the races.
On Sunday fans will be offered a 4 pack ticket deal! The deal consists of
4 tickets, 4 soft drinks, 4 hot dogs and 4 pop corns for $50!! It’s an
extravaganza of savings as Heartland Park wants to thank the fans for
another great season at BriggsAuto.Com Speedway.
April 7th doesn’t seem that long ago. The 2012 season was just kicking off
and Luke Driskell (Washburn Tech Modifieds), Jeff Miller (Super 8 at
Forbes Landing Factory Stocks), Mike Higley (White Line CDL Training B
Mods) and Darren Davenport (Casey’s General Store Pure Stock) all took
home wins on opening night.
Since that eventful night the season has been magnificent.
The Washburn Tech Modified division has produced more different winners in
2012 than ever before. Ten different drivers raced their way to victory
lane and only 4 of the 10 were able to win multiple features. Last year’s
champion, Darron Fuqua, will repeat as the champion again this season.
Fuqua, who has 5 wins on the season, used a formula of consistency mixed
in with just the right amount of wins to land him at the top of the heap.
Fuqua’s race to another championship didn’t go unchallenged. Kerry Davis,
Cody Agler and Josh Everhart were just a few of many drivers who emerged
on to the scene this season to add some spice to this exciting division.
In the Casey’s General Store Pure Stock division the season has belonged
to the 2012 champ, Randal Schiffelbein Jr. The last two races have
belonged to Tyler Garst. Garst has looked strong rolling to 2 consecutive
wins. The division continues to show it’s new found popularity this season
and with young drivers, like Garst & Schiffelbein, the future looks primed
for more growth.
Lucas Isaacs notched win #4 on the season in the White Line CDL Training B
Mods last Saturday night. One more win and he will tie Mike Higley for the
most wins on the season (5). Popularity has sprouted up all over at
BriggsAuto.Com Speedway and the B Mods have a big share of it. There have
been 11 different winners this season and more than 80 different drivers
having raced at HPT this season. Whatever the reason might be, this class
and these drivers will keep packing in more and more excitement than ever
before. In the next few years could we be looking at a new premier
division?
The driver that has the most wins in any division this season races in the
Super 8 at Forbes Landing Factory Stock class, Terry Schmidt. It’s amazing
that Schmidt has 12 wins and he will be the last of the 2012 track
champions to clinch his title. It could be that he has had some DNFs and
he missed 2 races this season. If Schmidt were to miss the final two
races, Steve Herrick could possibly pass him for the points title, but it
would take a lot of help. Herrick would almost have to win the last two
races to get that job done. Anything is possible when it comes to
championship night! Herrick won last week and he could put two more
together to end the season on. Then again Zach Henery could step up big
again this weekend, like he has done before. It’s also conceivable that we
just might pick up a new feature winner this weekend.
The times for the races on both nights will be the same. Spectator gates
will open up at 5 p.m., hot laps will be at 6:15 p.m. and the first heat
goes green at 7 p.m.
Adult tickets are $10, kids 12 and under are $5 and military with an id
will be free. Sunday patrons will have the chance at getting the 4 pack
ticket promotion. Four tickets to the races, 4 soft drinks, 4 hot dogs and
4 pop corns for $50! Tickets can be purchased online at Heartland Park
Topeka’s website, www.hpt.com.
Don’t forget to come out twice this weekend to BriggsAuto.Com Speedway and
help put an exclamation point on 2012!
